I went to write up my What I Ate Wednesday post tonight, but the latest WordPress update doesn’t allow me to insert pictures or link to anything. I’m trying to resolve the issue, and hopefully I can get my post up tomorrow.
Sorry about the drama. I’m not a happy camper right now.
I hope you’re enjoying your long weekend. The husband and I celebrated his 10 year skativersary by going to KiwiSpoon. If you’re wondering what a skativersary is, it means that the husband started skateboarding ten years ago today. Talk about commitment.
KiwiSpoon is a frozen yogurt place, and I don’t think I need to tell you how excited I was to try it.
His
Original Tart, Pomegranate and Cappuccino frozen yogurt topped with cheesecake chunks, shredded coconut, and fresh kiwi.
And Hers
Original Tart, and Cookies and Cream with cheesecake chunks, coconut, and pb cup crumbs.
Oh, and you can’t forget the rainbow sprinkles.
You pay by the ounce for whatever you buy, and the husband and I had a lot of fun. I think it’s safe to say we’ll be going back.
There’s been a lot less running going on around here than I want there to be, but this is the last week of school and then I’ll have countless hours to spend running in circles.
I’m alive! Sorry for the disappearing act last week, but I am eyeball deep in my finals and once I get on a roll I just want to get it done. I promise that starting next week I’ll be back to blogging 7 days a week. I can’t wait. I miss my bloggy friends.
I was super eager to take part in What I Ate Wednesday this week, but then I realized that if I actually showed you what I’ve been eating these days you would be bored to tears, or mortified.
So instead I’m going to show you what I can’t wait to make when I finally have the time.
This first dish is super simple, but also super delicious.
Tofu and asparagus. I cannot tell you how badly I need vegetables in my life these days.
Another dish I can’t wait to eat?
That would be julienne zucchini with a raw tomato sauce. It was so light and fresh, and I cannot wait to make it again.
But most importantly I cannot wait for the garden to finish growing so I can have copious amounts of fresh veggies at my disposal.
Those are the veggies from last year, and I am drooling just looking at them.
Tell me what you’ve been eating lately. Let me live vicariously through you!
I’m in the middle of my last week at the high school, and I am so happy that it’s almost over. Not only that, but I’m 2 weeks away from being done with summer session. I can’t wait for free time!
I hit the road yesterday for a 3 mile run since I had a half day. It was so unbelievably HOT. I won’t tell you how long it’s been since my last run, but I will tell you that my legs are sore today. Whoops. I guess I better take the slow road to marathon training.
With that I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I’ve already altered my marathon training program. The Higdon program had me running 4 days a week, and I’d rather run 3 with an optional 4th day if my legs feel up to it. So, here’s the new training plan:
I’ve already changed it though, because I realized that I shouldn’t have my long runs on Saturday. I won’t be able to run until after work, and after yesterday’s crazy hot run I don’t want to subject myself to that misery. I’m just going to switch my Tuesdays and my Saturdays. Problem solved.
I’m off to join the class party. 2 of my classes end tonight and we’re celebrating with pizza and salad of course.
Happy Sunday! I’m looking forward to starting my last week at the high school tomorrow. I can’t believe the year is done already, but I’m definitely looking forward to some me time.
As much as I loved my iPhone and all of the crazy things it could do, it was also a MAJOR drain on my bank account. Switching to the Alias 2 will save me 40 bucks a month. That’s 40 bucks I can put towards groceries, or savings, or even doing fun things with the husband.
The husband and I are figuring out (and have been for years now) that being an adult means paying bills and never having any fun. I’m just kidding about that last part.
Except fun is watching the husband do yard work, while creating a grocery list.
I won’t lie, I actually really like sitting on the grass.
I’m off to mourn the loss of my iPhone, and fold laundry. See how adult I am?
Tell me what grown up thing you had to do that made you realize being an adult isn’t all fun and games!
Goodnight, friends!
PS Happy Father’s Day to all you cool cats out there. This totally includes father’s to fur children too!
Seriously, there is nothing I want more than to be in a van with 5 other smelly runners, running on little sleep. It sounds amazing right now.
2 of my classes end next week so that means it’s finals already. I’m currently blogging from the Quinnipiac cafeteria. And instead of doing homework I’m busy picking out a marathon training plan.
I think I’m going to roll with my dog Hal Higdon again. He hasn’t steered me wrong yet.
My internship ends on the 24th, and marathon training begins the 27th. I am so excited to get back to a consistent running plan, and my super amazing sister and cousin are coming to run with me on Saturday.
Let the crazy training runs begin.
Tell me how your life is going!!! I miss you crazy people.
Is anyone else super bummed that the weekend is over? I know I am. I didn’t get as much homework done as I would have liked, but it was awesome to get to spend some time with the husband.
I worked until noon, and then came home for the harvest.
The first strawberry harvest of the season.
None of our vegetables are ready to eat yet, but I did see a lot of promising flowers.
After the harvest we made the trek to my aunt’s house. (Hi Aunt Charlene!) We brought the strawberries for dessert, and the verdict was that they were sweeter than the store bought ones. Score one for home grown produce.
It was wonderful spending some time with the family. I can’t wait until school is over and we can get together more often. Speaking of school, I should probably get to that homework I’ve been ignoring all weekend.
I hope you had a wonderfully week, and that you’re enjoying the start to your weekend. I worked early this morning, and then stopped at the tattoo shop to get some more work done on the Winged Victory.
I don’t have any pictures, but I’ll take some as soon as the redness goes down. After that the husband and I had a couple of hours to kill before Lauren’s graduation fiesta so we went to see Super 8.
The verdict: The movie was absolutely amazing! I loved the fact that the main characters were teenagers, and the story line was amazing. It didn’t hurt that there were plenty of explosions.
I became a huge fan of J.J. Abrams when I saw Star Trek, and this movie did not disappoint me.
In short, go and see it, and thank me later.
Have you seen any good movies lately?
I’m off to spend some quiet time with the husband and the dogs, and maybe get some homework done.
But before I go here’s a picture of KJ I call “The Walrus.”
To say that the past few days have been crazy would be an understatement. I did the math the other day and figured out that between the high school and class at night I spend 12 hours of my day in school. Add to that commuting time, and time spent sleeping I have a limited amount of time to spend with the husband and the dogs a day.
And that’s if I’m lucky.
Needless to say I’m going to have to cut my blogging back for a couple of weeks. It’s not that I don’t love you guys, it’s just that I need to focus on school.
Part of being a healthy living blogger is knowing that I need to manage my stress. I have far too much stuff on my plate to be able to juggle everything and unfortunately it has to be the blog.
With that being said I’m going to blog 3 days a week for a little while, just so I can get my head in the game at school.
I’ll blog Sunday, Wednesday, and Saturday and more often if the opportunity presents itself.
I’m hoping to get more guest posters in here too.
And I’ll still be commenting on your blogs when I can. I can’t stay away!
I can’t wait until my schedule is normal again so I can get back to blogging. It really is awesome “me” time.
In the spirit of education here are some fun school related cartoons. They made my day a little brighter.
You see my pants have been getting tighter lately. At first I chocked it up to water retention, but after a few days there’s no denying that I’ve gained weight.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t make a big deal about it, but in the next couple of weeks I’m going to start marathon training, and I want to make sure I’m in optimal condition.
So what am I going to do?
I’m going to go back to my roots of course!
Eat fruits and veggies at every meal.
Stop eating so many processed foods.
Plan out (and track!) my meals and snacks in advance so I don’t get caught, and turn to convenience foods.
Steer clear of dessert. Lately I’ve been eating it even if I’m not particularly hungry, and that just doesn’t make any sense.
I’m sure you noticed that there’s no exercise included on there, but I’m focusing on one aspect at a time. I’ve fallen off the wagon here, and I know that it’s going to take a bunch of small changes to make it stick. I usually steer clear of weight stuff on the blog (it’s not my favorite topic) but I’m hoping this will keep me accountable.
I’m off to spend some quality time with the pups and the husband.
